Stunning Places to Visit in the Maldives

If you’re planning a vacation to the Maldives, there are many breathtaking places you can visit. Here are a few that are must-sees: Fuvahmulah, Baros Island, Thinadhoo, and Vaadhoo. Read on to discover more. And make sure to check out our Maldives travel guide to plan your next vacation.

Fuvahmulah

Fuvahmulah island is the largest in the Maldives archipelago. This beautiful island is surrounded by green fields, and the locals here love cooking up seafood and eating it! While you’re here, you’ll definitely want to try fishing. Fishing in the sea is one of the main sources of income for local residents, and you’ll have the opportunity to catch some Tuna, Barracuda, and more.

The beautiful, unspoiled islands of Fuvahmulah are perfect for water sports. The islands are home to one of the few surf breaks in the Maldives, and the beaches are naturally moving with the winds. When the weather changes, the beaches shift and create natural swimming pools, called Bissaaveli. You can learn to surf here, and most hotels can arrange a lesson for you.

Baros Island

Located in the Kaafu atoll, Baros Island has beautiful see-through waters and ultra-green palm trees. The laid-back vibe of Baros Island is perfect for a staycation. There are many waterfront resorts and dhoni boats to choose from. In addition to diving, snorkelling, and beach activities, Baros has plenty of other fun activities for visitors.

The beaches on Baros Island are pristine and surrounded by coral reef. The island is the only resort in the Maldives on a private island, which makes it the perfect location for a romantic candlelit dinner. Guests can also enjoy the stunning sunsets while savouring top-notch gastronomy. Baros is the perfect destination for a honeymoon or anniversary.

Thinadhoo

If you are looking for adventure in the islands of the Maldives, there are plenty of activities to keep you busy. There are water sports that you can participate in as well as island hopping. In addition to these activities, you can also explore the wildlife in the Maldives. A trip to the Maldives is not complete without seeing the beautiful marine life. The countless varieties of fish are what make this destination so unique.

First of all, you must visit the island of Utheemu. It resembles a tiny green jellyfish and is the birthplace of Sultan Mohamed Thakurufaanu. The Utheemu Ganduvaru is a heritage building and home to the Sultan of the Maldives. This is one of the secluded islands in Maldives that is perfect for a romantic getaway or for a family vacation.

Vaadhoo

If you’re a fan of stargazing, Vaadhoo Island is the place to go. The sea waves in the Vaadhoo Atoll glow like shimmering blue dots at night. The sea waves look like a starlit night sky, and they are actually caused by the growth of phytoplankton. These plankton are tiny organisms that glow in the dark and produce a beautiful blue light when stirred up by the waves.

Despite its remote location, Vaadhoo is well connected to the rest of the Maldives. It’s only a 15-minute speedboat ride from the capital Male. Vaadhoo’s climate is warm and pleasant throughout the year, with temperatures ranging between the mid-twenties and low-thirties Celsius. While December and January are ideal months to visit the Maldives, June to October provide some of the best conditions for stargazing.

Isdhoo

Isdhoo is located in the Laamu Atoll in the Maldives. The site has some of the most spectacular coral gardens in the entire country. The eastern outer reef has an average slope of 45 degrees, and the reef itself is home to a variety of species. Typically, divers will enter the water 600 meters north of the island, using the left shoulder to navigate the reef. Divers will find that most species are found at 20 metres and below. The turbulence in the water can be a bit difficult for beginners are strongly advised against diving here as it may damage the coral reefs.

Isdhoo is home to an ancient mosque and ruins from the Buddhist era. The site is also known as “Shoppers Paradise” and has many shops and supermarkets selling a variety of items. Tourists can purchase amazing jewelry and other unique items. The island is also a popular destination for divers looking for scuba diving excursions.
